If you are living in the Great Smoky Mountain area or on the outskirts of it you may have trouble tuning our FM signal. Here are some helpful hints to help you pull in our signal in.

  1. If you have a stereo system in your house that includes a separate tuner for FM, then you probably have an external antenna connection on the rear of you FM tuner. First use any wire like lamp cord and strip of the insulation on both ends of the wires (about 1/4 inch should do) . Then connect the stripped end to the external antenna screw or clip on the rear of the tuner. There is also a ground screw that is connected to the chassis of the unit. Connect the other wire to this and then to a good ground like a metal stake that is driven at least 6 inches in the ground out side. Now put the remaining wire out a window and strip off about a foot of insulation from that wire. Try to get this wire as high as you can like in a tree or on your TV antenna. From this point you may want to turn your radio on and tune it to 87.9 FM. Now try positioning the wire in different places to get your best reception.
  2. If you have a ghetto box radio with a pull up antenna try stripping off about a foot of insulation on the radio end and wrap the wire around the pull up antenna. Then put it through a window to the outside (you can close the window on the wire) follow the same procedure as above for your best reception.
